"Internet Matters" - new website for parents/carers from ISPs

The UK's four biggest internet service providers (ISPs) BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin Mediahave joined forces to launch an organisation  - called Internet Matters – in a bid to help parents safely navigate  the online world with their children. Mother and daughter, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Janet Ellis launched the campaign this morning from the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, London.

Childnet and the UK Safer Internet Centre attended the event, joined by other leading internet safety experts such as Professor Sonia Livingstone from EU Kids Online, the IWF, the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and CEOP, as well as DCMS minister Ed Vaizey MP.

It's hoped that Internet Matters will be able to leverage the reach of the four ISPs – which together extend to 90 per cent of UK homes – to become a household name.

The www.internetmatters.org website has lots of information  for parents/carers about staying safe online and the campaign will raise awareness about the parental control tools offered by the big ISPs that help to filter the internet on every device.
