Schools Financial Services Newsletter - June 2021

Summer Finance Information Group

The Summer FIG will be held virtually on the morning of 9 June 2021.

If you have not booked your place and wish to do so, please ensure you book a place via CPD Online. If you are unable to book a place, please contact Schools Financial Services as soon as possible.

Digital Education Platform

The Department of Education has extended its digital education platform programme for a further 12 months. Applications can be made for Government funded support until the
end of March 2022.

Find out more about the programme here and read how one school is making the most of their remote education platform here.

Helpdesk Closure

Please note that the Helpdesk will be closed on 8 June between 9am and 1:30pm.

Onecard Update

Schools Financial Services and NatWest are in full flow of processing onecard applications. Some of you may have already received your new cards and pins in the post, if you haven’t, these should start arriving over the next few weeks as we get
them checked and over to NatWest for processing. Please ensure you’re using the new cards instead of the current ones as soon as you receive them. Paper statements will be
arranged in the first instance for these cards while we get everyone set-up on Smart Data.

FMS6 Procedure Note 6A is now available, of which you should have received in the ‘SFS Update 25 May 2021’. This will aid in processing the transactions within FMS6.

Webinars will be arranged for June and July which will cover the use of the Smart Data platform, once the dates for these are confirmed, we’ll let you know.

BCM Excess

For those schools that advised the returns team that their excess BCM would be spent on Capital projects, a letter is due to be sent out shortly requesting copy invoices for the expenditure as and when the projects are completed. If the plans for the excess BCM funds have since changed and capital project listed are not going ahead please
respond to the letter giving details of your new alternative plans.

Spring Data Collection

We are hoping to send out the data collection returns by the end of June. Could we please ask that schools return the form to advise us of any changes so that we keep our customer information up to date and ensure that you all receive important communications. We would ask schools with no changes to still email back the return to confirm all the data held is correct.
