James joined as CEO of The Education People in July 2018. He started his career in education as a teacher in inner city London secondaries, progressing through senior leadership roles in both challenging and outstanding schools. With two successful headships under his belt he then moved into the role of Director of Standards for the second largest education group in Dubai: working closely with the CEO to drive transformational change across the group of all-through schools and nurseries by raising educational standards and expanding the business in a highly competitive market.
He brings over 20 years of educational expertise to the role of CEO, along with experience of forming sustainable business partnerships with local, national and multinational companies. His most recent role involved successfully establishing an education service that had a significant impact on improving outcomes for children and young people. He is committed to ensuring the same impact is felt at The Education People, as the company strives to become the one-stop shop for professional education services, support and products across the country.
Mirela has 20 years of financial experience across practice, charity and industry. She started her career in accountancy practice where she qualified as a chartered accountant. Since then she left practice and her keen interest in education led her to join the Institute of Physics in 2005. As financial controller she supported the teams across the entire institute and led the finance department to be integrated as a true partner in the business.
In 2013 she joined GLL (Greenwich Leisure Ltd) where she supported the business while it was going through significant growth of over £140m over 5 years. In addition to managing all day-to-day finances for the company, she was involved in many projects such as implementation of new EPR system and changeover of banking arrangement, business restructure and provided key support for the bids for the management of Council owned leisure centres and libraries.
Throughout her career she used her expertise to support the business, improve and deliver efficiencies, growth and significant cost savings.
Richard is the Director of Organisation and Business Development and the company’s Deputy Chief Executive. He is a qualified accountant with nearly 30 years’ experience, many of those in the education arena. He has carried out a wide range of roles during his career, including finance at Director level, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Resource Planning, Performance and Risk. He has also been a non-executive Director of a local law firm.
He is a keen supporter of the voluntary sector and has been the honorary treasurer of a Kent based charity helping young people set up their own companies. His most recent involvement in the third sector is as a director and trustee of a Kent based charity offering therapeutic and educational support for young people through operating an organic market garden, organic dairy farm and conference centre.
Sarah is the Executive Business Deputy Manager for The Education People. She brings with her significant support and administration skills in an education environment. Sarah supports the Executive Office ensuring that the office runs smoothly and effectively. Her role includes supporting the executive team with diary and email management, action capture and onward monitoring, liaising with Company Leadership team to ensure actions are progressed and closed, drafting key documentation, proof reading, managing key recruitment and providing general office support.
Her role also supports the wellbeing of staff, ensuring the office is operational and effective, and liaising with suppliers. Her previous experience of working in education allows Sarah to apply context to requests and liaise with external parties to effectively triage contacts and ensure the right person is dealing with the appropriate enquiry.
Sarah has worked with a large Local Authority since 2008, most recently supporting the Head of School Improvement supporting in day to day activities and liaising with schools. Prior to this Sarah held roles within customer services giving her a wider understanding of customer experience.
Sarah is a keen fundraiser for Kidney Research UK, Macmillan Cancer and Breast Cancer in her spare time.
Tracy is the Executive Business Manager for The Education People. Her role is to provide business support to both the executive team and the company board, whilst acting as the executive lead in a number of strategic functions of the business, including health and safety, company policies and procedures and business continuity. She is responsible for supporting the executive in all elements of communications including external events, presentations and reporting. Tracy also leads a team to provide all areas of administrative support for both the executive team and the company board.
Tracy has over 14 years experience of working for education services in Kent, including providing director level support. She played a key role in the set up of the company and has now transferred her drive and organisational ability to providing comprehensive business support to the executive team and company board.
Tracy has an interest in voluntary and charity work. She regularly volunteers at a local wildlife reserve and also undertakes Race for Life each year in aid of Cancer Research.
Satpal joined as Executive Business & Systems Officer in June 2020. She provides comprehensive administrative and systems support to the Executive and the Systems & Business Change teams at The Education People. This involves assisting in the smooth running of the Executive team, taking a proactive role in relation to its day to day functioning and full administrative support for Business Reviews and Wider Leadership Group meetings. She has responsibility for internal communications and operationally manages the company’s web-based collaborative platform. She actively works with colleagues to advise and enhance the use of IT systems within the company.
She started her career in insurance as a graduate IT Specialist before moving to Lloyd’s of London as a Senior IT Project Manager. She has experience of the charitable sector, helping to set up and sustain after school clubs, and also undertaking a compliance role for a charity specialising in the provision of a national careers service. Working for a Kent secondary school reinforced her interest in education. She has experience of supporting students and working with the school leadership team.
Satpal is a keen supporter and fundraiser for hospices in Kent and the Sue Ryder charity.
