Brief Overview

The Makaton Taster Session is designed for anyone seeking an introduction to the Makaton Language Programme.

It is designed to give a brief insight and fun experience of the programme, and to encourage participants to access further training, as appropriate to their needs and situation. You will learn around 50 signs and symbols, although this is not a formal teaching workshop. Resources will be sent to you via email for you to print out or keep electronically as you wish.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the Makaton Taster Session participants should be able to:

  • describe the purpose and benefits of using Makaton.
  • use 30 concepts in symbols and signs from the Makaton Core Vocabulary.
  • use a further 20 concepts in symbols and signs relevant to their own environment and needs.
