Audience: Primary, Secondary
Single session

  • Key Stage 3
  • Key Stage 4
  • Key Stage 5

Brief Overview

Month end ensures that all transactions have been properly accounted for, which allows the school to close the accounts on the financial activity for the month and start a new month with up-to-date financial information. The month-end close is an integral process that helps a school provide accurate financial data on a regular basis to senior leaders and governors.

There are certain documents and processes that must be followed to ensure that the accounting system is up to date and can produce reports that will enable accurate financial monitoring.

This session will explore these processes and what the consequences might be if they are not followed or completed.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the sessions the delegates will be able to:

  • use the KCC Financial Controls and the Schools’ own Finance Policy as reference documents
  • explain the processes that need to be carried out in order to provide the school with effective ongoing financial support to include monthly reporting
  • play a key role in ensuring that schools are financially well managed.
