Best Practice Guidance (Download)

Advice and guidance for Early Years practitioners in supporting all children, including those with SEND, to achieve their full potential (download version).

Best Practice Guidance

Young children and their families are at the centre of early years care and education. The Best Practice Guidance for the Early Years (BPG) has been co-produced by early years practitioners and professionals in Kent to extend inclusive provision for all children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) taking in to account their individual needs.
The document has two purposes:

  • the opportunity to evaluate inclusive practice in general
  • the identification of specific strategies that can be used to support individual children or groups of children.

The BPG is for all early years providers and practitioners working with young children. The document provides a framework for the inclusion of all children with practical advice, guidance, and strategies to meet the needs of children at universal, targeted, and personalised levels.

Kent based PVI settings, including childminders and maintained nurseries can access a free BPG electronic copy to view online. Save the link to your browser as a bookmark for easy access.
All Kent setting accounts have been updated to access KCC funded training/products without using a code.
